Bright Meadows Family Hub Opens to Support Families in Breightmet
Families in Breightmet are celebrating the opening of the Bright Meadows Family Hub, the latest addition to Bolton’s growing network of family hubs. With six centres now open across the borough and two more expected in 2025, Bolton Labour is delivering on its commitment to supporting young families and building stronger communities.
A Hub for Families and Community Support
The new hub offers a wide range of services and activities tailored for families with children up to the age of 19, or up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Families attending the grand opening were treated to a fun-filled event, including creative activities, outdoor play with Little Bats, and storytelling from the Bookworm Player Storyteller. The event also provided an opportunity to meet professionals and explore the many services now available at Bright Meadows.
Since early December, families have been able to access:
- Play, stay, and learn sessions provided by Bolton Toy Library, Little Bats, and the Family Hub team.
- Support services, including advice on parenting, infant feeding, debt, welfare, housing, and health and wellbeing.
Starting in January 2025, the hub will also host antenatal clinics to further expand its support for new and expecting parents.
A Lifeline for Families
Local MP Kirith Entwistle joined families at the opening alongside Bolton Council Leader Cllr Nick Peel, Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services Cllr Martin Donaghy, and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Kirith Entwistle MP said:
“Our family hubs provide a lifeline for families with young children, and I was pleased to hear they’ll be expanding their offer soon.
“I know how isolating and scary it can be when you first become a parent, and having that community support available is so important.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Bright Meadows Family Hub support local parents and families.”
Cllr Martin Donaghy added:
“Bolton’s expanding Family Hub network is making a real difference to young families across the borough, providing a firm basis from which children can thrive and develop happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
“Feedback has been extremely positive, and the hubs are making a real difference by providing the services that people need, all in one place and close to where they live.
“The Bright Meadows hub staff always offer a warm welcome and it’s a fantastic place for young families. I’d urge anyone to drop in, have a chat, and find out what is on offer.”
